4 carjackings Tuesday in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The New Orleans Police Department is investigation four carjackings Tuesday. Three of the crimes involved guns.  The cases are just the latest to roll on the Wheel of Justice.

carjackingmapThe NOPD said the first carjacking happened about 5:41 p.m. on the West Bank. A 19-year-old was sitting in his car parked in the 2000 block of Diana Street when he was approached by a man armed with a gun. The man ordered the victim out of the car, and he fled the scene.

The second happened about 11 p.m., in Gentilly. The NOPD says an 18-year-old was sitting in her 2008 Nissan Versa when two men wearing ski masks forced her out of her car. She then fled. Her car was parked in the 55100 block of Music Street.

The NOPD says at 11:05 p.m. two men pulled a 20-year-old man out of his car parked at Baronne and Euterpe streets. One man had a gun and demanded the victim's belongs. He complied, and the men jumped into the victim’s vehicle and fled.

The last carjacking happened 30 minutes later in Gentilly. The NOPD says the 39-year-old victim entered his driveway when an unknown man wearing all black jumped out of a silver Tacoma and approached him. The suspect had a handgun and demanded the victim empty his pockets. The man complied, and the suspect jumped into the man’s 2012 Toyota Camry and fled. Authorities say the victim’s license plate number is #WVP962.

So far, 320 people have landed behind bars after their cases rolled on the Wheel of Justice.
